Magha Puja Day Lantern Ceremony

Magha Puja Pilgrimage 万佛节之旅 · Dhammakaya Temple in Thailand

Magha Puja is a major Buddhist festival that honours the Buddha and his teachings. It commemorates the spontaneous gathering of 1,250 Arahants who came together to hear the Ovada Patimokkha, which emphasises doing good, abstaining from evil, and purifying the mind.

To mark this occasion, DCS organises an annual pilgrimage to Dhammakaya Temple in Thailand. At the heart of the experience is the lantern-lighting ceremony at the Great Dhammakaya Cetiya, where thousands come together to illuminate a sea of light in quiet reverence.

This journey offers a rare opportunity to step away from the pace of daily life and return to inner stillness.

Highlights of the pilgrimage:

  • Commemorate the historic gathering of 1,250 Arahants
  • Experience one of the world's largest Buddhist temples
  • Participate in the lantern-lighting ceremony at the Great Dhammakaya Cetiya
  • Engage in meditation and traditional acts of offering
  • Practise alongside others from around the world in a shared moment of peace

We warmly invite you to be part of this journey to deepen your practice and return with a quieter, more centred mind.
